1542: Mariam-uz-Zamani was a wife of the Mughal emperor Akbar.
1842: S. Subramania Iyer, Indian lawyer and jurist (d. 1924)
1847: Annie Besant – A women right’s activist and educationist. She, along with Lokmanya Tilak launched Home Rule League Movement in 1916. She became the first woman president of the Indian National Congress in 1917. She also established Central Hindu College in Banaras (now Varanasi). Annie also founded the Scout Movement in India.
1861: Nilratan Sircar was an eminent Indian doctor, philanthropist and swadeshi entrepreneur.
1862: Raghupathi Venkataratnam Naidu was an Indian social reformer who hailed from Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh in India.
1887: Hridya Nath Kunzru was an Indian freedom fighter and public figure.
1895: Liaquat Ali Khan, Indian-Pakistani lawyer and politician, 1st Prime Minister of Pakistan (d. 1951)
1904: Ayillyath Kuttiari Gopalan was an Indian communist leader, serving CPI with 16 members out of 489 since the first Lok Sabha in 1952.
1906: Sachin Dev Burman was an Indian music director and singer.
1919: Majrooh Sultanpuri, Indian poet and songwriter (d. 2000)
1922: Allu Ramalingaiah was an Indian Telugu comic actor who appeared in over 1000 Tollywood films.
1928: Sivaji Ganesan was an Indian actor, and producer. Google also released a special Doodle on his 93rd birthday.
1945: Ram Nath Kovind, Indian politician serving as the 14th and current President of India.
1947: Dalveer Bhandari, Indian lawyer and judge
1969: Mahesh Thakur, Indian actor who has played roles in many films, TV serials and web series.
1979: Shraddha Nigam, Indian film and television actress.
1984: Vineeth Sreenivasan, Indian playback singer, actor, film director, screenwriter, producer.
1990: Anushka Ranjan, Indian film actress and model.
1998: Jehan Daruvala, Indian racing driver competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship.
