1908: Lokmanya Tilak was sentenced to 6 years in prison for writing an infamous article on the ‘country’s misfortune’.
1931: Vasudev Balwant Gogte Gun fired at Sir John Hotson, the governor of Mumbai province, in the library of Ferguson College. Hotson survived.
1942: Grossaktion Warsaw: The systematic deportation of Jews from the Warsaw ghetto began.
1944: Communist rule began in Poland.
1981: India’s first geostationary satellite APPLE started functioning.
2011: 2011 Norway attacks: first a bomb blast which targeted government buildings in central Oslo, followed by a massacre at a youth camp on the island of Utøya.
2013: 2013 Dingxi earthquakes, a series of earthquakes in Dingxi, China, kills at least 89 people and injures more than 500 others.
2019: India’s lunar mission, Chandrayaan-2 successfully took off from Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota aiming to be the fourth nation to soft-land on the moon.
